Token auth first, legacy servers still welcome
Playwave uses salted-token authentication, and if an older server refuses it, falls back to the classic password scheme automatically so it still connects.
What works
- OpenSubsonic and classic Subsonic API servers
- Albums, artists, genres, playlists, starred songs, folders
- Random songs, newest, recent and frequent lists
- Lyrics where the server provides them (Pro)
Setting it up
Library › + › Subsonic. Enter the address, for example http://192.168.1.40:4747 for gonic, and your login.

Which servers are tested?
We test against Navidrome, gonic and a legacy password-only Subsonic server in our own lab.
Does it support folder browsing?
Yes, servers that expose music folders can be browsed folder by folder.
My server only supports passwords. Will it work?
Yes. Playwave detects that and switches to password authentication for that server.
